“REUNION COMMITTEE†� STEPS UP SEARCH
FOR BROOKLYN’S LAFAYETTE HIGH SCHOOL 1959 CLASSMATES

More Than 600 Classmates Already Located In U.S., Abroad


Miami, Florida, April 24, 2007—Brooklyn’s Lafayette High School 50th anniversary reunion committee has stepped up its search for classmates who were graduated in 1959, Jeff Rosinek, committee chairman, and Florida resident, said.
“The reunion committee, formed more than a year ago through a network of former classmates, as of April 2007, has found and contacted 630 of the 1,200 classmates.†�
“So far, we have located classmates, and a few teachers, in 28 states as well as classmates now in Israel, Thailand and England,†� he said.
“The initial list was constructed based largely upon friendships which have lasted nearly a half century, as well as addresses used in preparation for the 25th anniversary reunion,†� explained Hani Lipp (Florida), Roz Levy Toback (Florida) , Mona Bregman (New York) and Joni Newman Davis (New Jersey), who spearheaded the early phase of the search.

“With that base in place, we are now starting to stretch the net and focus on more extensive outreach through additional volunteers across the country,†� they said.
The 28 states in which the committee has identified classmates are: Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington and West Virginia.
“We anticipate we will find many more graduates across the country,†� Ms. Lipp said.
Internet, Mainstream and Trade Media Part Of Outreach
“As part of the stepped-up outreach program, we are using internet-based search engine websites, and asking those we have already found to look at lists of colleagues in their own professions, as well as any other sources, to identify additional classmates. We also are contacting professional publications, newsletters, and similar outlets to make our search known as widely as possible,†� she said.
“In addition, we also have an easy to use and navigate website, www.nitrophotos.com/lafayette_59_reunion/†� said Bill Pasternak (California), the committee’s secretary.
The reunion is scheduled to be held April 25, 2009 at Kingsborough Community College, Manhattan Beach, Brooklyn. The 25th reunion was held in April 1984 in Queens, N.Y.
